PJC Matan Mother-Daughter Bat Mitzvah Learning Program

The objective of the Matan program is to make each and every girl aware of the rich tradition of Jewish women, and to allow her to take her place in this chain of Jewish women throughout the generations.  We will be hosting eight session that take the Bat Mitzvah girl and her mother on a journey from the Matriarchs to modern times. In every session we meet a different Jewish woman and learn about her life and the attributes which she embodies.  The program is value-based and not mitzvah-based, and therefore appeals to people of all backgrounds and levels of observance.

All of the sessions involve chevruta learning for the mother and daughter and a facilitator-led discussion of the sources learned. We are so greatful to have multiple community educators who will be leading the learning sessions. The learning session is accompanied by an experiential activity related to the relevant figure or subject. Each activity creates a different atmosphere and invites different modes of self-expression such as creative movement, music, theater, art and guided imagery.
